What does Insite do?
Insite is a student-run, non-profit, independent media organisation whose main aim is to promote student life and to provide students with a means by which to be heard. Insite also works to raise awareness and encourage debate amongst students, to promote their initiatives in culture and education, and to safeguard their freedom of expression.
This year, the main objective is to build upon the success of previous years, mainly by improving its newspaper product and website, while at the same time increasing interest and participation from students. Insite also seeks to further its international partnerships while reinforcing its position as one of the leading student organisations on campus.
Why should you join?
The work done with Insite is all voluntary but it is a great way to acquire experience, hone your talents and abilities and improve your portfolio. If you are interested in a career in media or management, or would simply like something fun to do during your time at University, this is an ideal organisation to be part of. Insite is a great place to meet people and find new and interesting ways of putting your free time to good use.
What are we looking for?
We are looking for motivated, enthusiastic and energetic students who would like to be part of our media team. The positions currently available are:
ACTIVITY COORDINATORS
The main job of an activity coordinator will be to help the Operations Officer to organise a program of interesting and fun activities, with the aim of promoting the organisation. He or she should encourage students to attend these activities. The candidate should be committed, outgoing, patient, and should have a sense of humour. Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team are also necessary qualities.
PHOTO-JOURNALISTS
Photo-journalists will be working under the guidance of Insite’s Artistic Director, and will be required to take photos to be used for Insite’s various media. Applicants must have their own equipment. That said, the equipment does not have to be high tech; anyone with a digital camera can apply.
JOURNALISTS
Journalists will have an excellent command of the English language. They are expected to be on the look-out for potential stories, and must be prepared to do in depth research and investigation.
If you are interested in one of the advertised positions send an email to greta@insiteronline.com explaining why you would like to join Insite.
