The Online Law Journal set up by Għ.S.L (Għaqda Studenti tal-Liġi) works as an online legal library and discussion board for academics, lawyers and students alike. Free and easily accessible to all, it enables the public to acquire knowledge about the legal profession whilst discussing their ideas online. This new online journal does not substitute the organisation’s publication Id-Dritt. On the contrary, it stands side-by-side, complementing it and helping in broadening Għ.S.L.’s exposure online, now standing a click away from those which it represents. “The newly launched online journal is continuously in line with the ever growing legal fora,” states Gaynor Saliba, Publications Officer of Għ.S.L.
“There is somewhat a lack of cohesiveness in the resources available” states Ariane Aquilina, Sub-Editor, when writing about what motivated her to join the Editorial Board in charge of publishing this Online Journal.
Chief Editor, Emma Grech explains that “Aside from the continual improvement of Għ.S.L.’s Id-Dritt, the next best step came in the form of an online forum and article archive database, which would especially interest members of the legal profession and students. This has now been created in the form of Għ.S.L.’s Online Law Journal.” Legal professionals are encouraged to write about topical and current developments in their particular field of law, providing a critical analysis of the situation accompanied by plausible solutions. “This journal has the potential to become an indispensable source for anyone willing to acquire any information related to the legal sphere,” claims sub-editor Jake Azzopardi.
Monthly calls for contributions will be sent by the Editorial Board via the Law Faculty at the University of Malta and the Chamber of Advocates.
The Editorial Board is a sub-committee of the executive board of Għ.S.L.
