KNZ allocates €5,000 for Culture Fund
The National Youth Council (KNZ) has announced that it will be allocating €5,000 to subsidise the attendance of cultural events and the practice of cultural disciplines for Maltese youths in 2012.
The aim of the culture fund is to make cultural activities more accessible to young people, who may be deterred by financial obstacles.
“Culture is one of the pillars of a holistic and enriched lifestyle and the National Youth Council is therefore aiming to financially assist the young people it represents to enhance their appreciation and support of culture throughout Maltese and European society,” said Jacob Vella, KNZ’s financial officer.
He said cultural events were not just a means of recreation, but also a stimulus for the thinking processes and creativity of young minds. “The council aims to act as a role model for young Maltese people by showing that youths are able to influence their own future and society as a whole,” he added.
The council encouraged youths to voice their opinions within their communities and to address the council with any comments or suggestions.
The deadline for applications for grants from the culture fund is 15 December 2012. Further details can be obtained by sending an email to email@example.com.
