UPDATED: KSU, Pulse, SDM express sympathy at Mintoff’s death

KSU has expressed its condolences at the passing of former Prime Minister Dom Mintoff, who died yesterday evening at his home in Tarxien aged 96.

The Council thanked Mintoff for his contribution to the Maltese political scene, as well as for his work as a council member in the early stages of his political career. Mintoff was a member of the Students’ Representative Council, as KSU was then known, and later on served as Secretary between 1934 and 1937.
Student organizations Pulse and SDM also expressed their sympathy at Mintoff’s death.
Pulse paid tribute his work in the political, economic and social sectors. “Mintoff will be remembered as the founder of a sovereign secular state, creator of the social welfare system and architect of revolutionary reforms in support of the most vulnerable.”
SDM said in spite of ideological differences, ‘il-Perit’, as he was known, would always be remembered for his work in Maltese politics.
