On Friday 18th October, MMSA and MHSA students took part in an event aimed at raising health awareness after receiving an invitation from Melita PLC to volunteer in their ”Melita Wellness Day – Live Well, Work Well’.
A group of students from both associations helped check the blood pressure, body mass index (BMI) and blood glucose levels of over 300 employees and also organised an anti-tabacco, sexual health and substance abuse outreach, providing the staff with useful informative leaflets.
The students participating came from different years of study. By contributing to this initiative the students came together to fulfil one of their main goals – that of raising public health awareness and encouraging the public to not only care about their health but feel more comfortable with the idea of visiting a doctor.
MMSA and MHSA encourage all companies to follow on this example and take an interest in the health of their employees as they believe that ‘the greatest wealth is health’.
