Students to Elect Representatives
Students will be hitting the polls today so as to elect representatives onto the University Senate, three other faculties and the Institute of European Studies.
A call for nominations made by the students’ council last month opened receipt for representatives on the University Senate; the Faculties of Art, the Built environment, Dental Surgery and ICT; the Institutes of Linguistics, Maltese Studies, Mediterranean studies and European Studies.
Each faculty, board or institute requires two student representatives to facilitate communication between students, staff and the KSU education commission. Representatives are expected to serve a two year term.
Candidates looking to represent students on the University Senate are facing the harshest competition with four nominations for a single vacancy. While no election is required for the Faculty of Dental Surgery’s representative, vacancies for the Institutes of Linguistics and Maltese Studies have not been met by any nominations. For each of the remaining faculties, two representatives are contesting a single vacancy.
Students are to visit the KSU Common Room between 9am and 6pm so as to cast their vote.
