Y4TE backs BirdLife Electoral Campaign
Student organisation Youth For The Environment (Y4TE) has voiced its support for BirdLife’s most recent campaign in the run-up to the 2013 general election. “Y4TE commends BirdLife on its continuous effort to drive the political parties to develop a strategy that would suit the public as well as the hunting community,” a spokesperson said.
The organisation said it fully agreed with BirdLife’s cause and called on political parties to take a stand. “It’s important to prevent land from being taken over by hunting activities which would inhibit the public from being able to access such areas. Hunting laws should be enforced with patrols being set up if required to ensure that no wildlife is hunted outside of the designated seasons and that protected species are given special attention to ensure their safety,” the spokesperson added.
The organisation called upon members of the general public to report any illegal activities and to alert members of related organisations to pressure the authorities to act fast should any such illegalities be discovered.
